Congratulations to the Slo-Pitch City Padres (men's) and the all the teams that qualified to get to the event.
Canadian Championship Host Team
The Ciocario Sports Complex in Windsor, four local teams battled to become the Ladies and Men' Host teams at the Softball Canada Canadian Slo-Pitch Championships. Besides each other they also battled Mother Nature. During the competition, the weather went from clear to light rain to heavy downpour and then back to a steady shower. Despite getting very wet and very muddy, it didn't stop the players from making great defensive plays and solid hitting.
In the Ladies division, Sunsation came out and mercied Woodslee 19-7 in the first game. In the second game of the best of three competition, Woodslee came back to even the series with a hard fought 6-3 victory. This set up the rubber match where the Woodslee team triumphed by a score of 12-6.
In the Mens division, Yardmen Softball pulled out a 11-7 victory over Leamington Equipment Rentals to take a one game to nothing lead. In the second game, Yardmen's bat really came alive and they won the game by 16-4.
Special thanks to Mark Reaume and his umpire crew and Tom Hebert and the Ciocario Club for hosting this event.
Special congratulations to Yardmen and Woodslee as they now will represent Windsor as the Host team at the Canadian Championships to be held Aug 13-18 at MicMac Park.
